Relationship and Couples Therapy
Nothing feels worse than fighting with the one you love. Repeating the same fight over and over again and not getting anywhere is the ultimate demoralization. In couples therapy, I welcome you and your partner to bring the fight into my consultation room. You may wish to talk about your communication pattern itself, or other topics such as sexuality, money, life transitions, or family. I want to observe your communication and learn about the things that trigger each of you separately. Perhaps you are each triggered by the same anxieties but in different ways. By looking together at your personal and shared histories, we will begin to appreciate the unique challenges each of you are bringing to your relationship. And by gaining this new perspective, you may find that blame and hurt are replaced by new feelings of intimacy and closeness.
I welcome couples diverse in sexual orientation and sexual expression, and couples who are new, pre-marital, married, separated, or reunited. I also work with non-sexual dyads including roommates, parents, adult children, siblings, friends, and co-workers.
